Member Benefits

Becoming a member of the New Hampshire Women’s Bar Association means that you are joining a group of leaders in New Hampshire’s legal community who are committed to gender equality. There are many benefits to being a member—here are just a few:

Connect to Leaders in the New Hampshire Bar. The New Hampshire Women’s Bar Association is an open and welcoming group of attorneys from all practice areas. Our events are a unique opportunity to meet, connect, and develop relationships with a diverse group of attorneys committed to equality in the practice of law.

Participate in Meaningful Service Opportunities. As members of the New Hampshire Bar, our members have a unique opportunity serve our community. The New Hampshire Women’s Bar Association organizes service projects, like its award-winning Women to Women project (please link to page), and supports other organization’s whose work aligns with our mission.

Stay Informed. Our e-mail blasts ensure all of our members are informed about issues important to gender equity, member career opportunities and updates, and upcoming social, education, and advocacy opportunities. Who Can Join?

  • Voting Members 

    A voting membership is open to any person who is:

    • A member of the bar of the State of New Hampshire in good standing or
    • A member of the bar admitted to practice in any U.S. state, territory, or district in good standing and who actively works in the legal profession and resides or works in New Hampshire.
    • Emeritus Members, are attorney members in good standing at the time of appointment who are sixty-five (65) years of age or older, has been a member of the NHWBA for at least fifteen (15) years but is no longer practicing law, and is accepted by the Board of Directors for appointment as an Emeritus Member 

    A voting member does not need to be on “active” status with the bar but cannot have resigned or been disbarred. Voting members have voting rights in matters subject to a vote of the members of the organization.

    Sustaining Membership* 

    Sustaining Membership is open to any person that is eligible to be a Voting Member of the NHWBA, and Sustaining Members have the right to vote on matters reserved to the members of the organization. Sustaining Members’ annual membership fees and donations provide significant support to the organization. 

    Associate Membership 

    Associate Membership is open to the following:

    • Any member of the bar admitted to practice and in good standing in any state or territory of the United States other than New Hampshire who does not satisfy the requirements for Voting Members
    • An attorney licensed to practice law, in good standing, in any foreign country, who does not qualify for Voting Membership
    • Law students
    • Paralegals
    • Legal administrators

Honorary Membership 

Honorary Membership is open to any member of the New Hampshire state or federal judiciary, including retired members of the judiciary, the dean of University of New Hampshire Franklin Pierce School of Law, and other distinguished members of the New Hampshire legal community, as determined by the Board. Honorary members are non-voting members and are not required to pay dues.
