Legal Leaders & Allies Summit on LGBTQ+ Inclusivity: What You Need to Know Now

  • Tuesday, September 17, 2024
  • 5:00 PM - 7:00 PM
  • NH Bar Center

This event, co-sponsored by the NHBA's Gender Equality Committee and the NH Women's Bar Association, will feature a panel of presenters, all attorneys, who will speak about how the New Hampshire legal community can foster inclusivity for LGBTQ+ individuals in all areas of the legal system.

The event will also allow attendees to engage in meaningful discussions and ask critical questions about what they need to know to be a resource, support, and ally for LGBTQ+ individuals. The event will also assist leaders of the New Hampshire legal community in attracting and retaining diverse attorneys so that they are able to employ the best legal talent.

Our panelists include:

  • Attorney Mason J. Dunn of the MA Transgender Political Coalition: Mason Dunn, Esq. is a member of the New Hampshire Bar Association, a UNH Law and Daniel Webster Scholars Honors Program alumni, and the Director of Education and Research at the Massachusetts LGBT Chamber of Commerce. He has over 15 years of LGBTQ+ advocacy experience, and prior to joining the Massachusetts LGBT Chamber of Commerce, they served as Deputy Director for the Division of Education and Training at the Fenway Institute, Director of Advocacy for Keshet, State and Local Policy Manager for GLSEN, and Executive Director of the Massachusetts Transgender Political Coalition
  • Attorney Kaylee M. Howard of Tarbell & Brodich P.A.: Kaylee Howard, Esq. is an attorney at Tarbell & Brodich in Concord. She is a member of the New Hampshire Bar Association, and has served on the New Lawyers Committee. Kaylee is also a graduate of UNH Law and the Daniel Webster Scholars Honors Program. Kaylee is an active volunteer for the DWS program and member of the NHWBA’s Networking Committee.

  • Attorney Lauren S. Rikleen of the Rikleen Institute for Strategic Leadership: Lauren Stiller Rikleen, Esq. is an author, former law firm partner, mediator, and leading researcher for the American Bar Association (ABA) on issues related to inequality, bias, workplace misconduct, difficulties facing women in the legal profession, and other societal/cultural barriers that are inherent in the legal community. She served on the ABA Commission on Sexual Orientation and Gender Identity. Lauren is also the President of the Rikleen Institute for Strategic Leadership.

In addition to the panel and discussion, the event will feature light refreshments and networking. This event is designed for attendees from all backgrounds, including legal professionals, law students, new lawyers, and seasoned practitioners, although we want to specifically reach out to law firm and organizational leaders.

We encourage members of management committees, hiring committees, partners/shareholders/members in New Hampshire firms, chairs of other Bar committees and sections, and other leaders in the legal community to join the conversation.
