CLE: Implicit Bias in the time of Divisive Concepts
This year's CLE is entitled, "Implicit Bias in the time of Divisive Concepts" and will be presented by James T. McKim, author of the forthcoming book, The Diversity Factor: Igniting Superior Organizational Performance. As a participant in this program, you'll be trained in how to recognize implicit bias, both externally and internally. He will share tools and debiasing techniques.
Public Service Project: Chase Home Community Garden
This year the NHWBA is hosting a Public Service Committee Donation Drive for The Chase Home located in Portsmouth, NH. The Chase Home was originally founded as an orphanage in 1877 making it one of the oldest non-profits in New Hampshire. No longer an orphanage, they provide services and programs both in the community and on-site at The Chase Home, where some children live.
The Chase Home is looking to start a community garden for their residents and other at-risk youth population they serve. Join the NHWBA in this opportunity to give back to our local community as we gather to Relax by the Sea by bringing a donation with you to the Wentworth. Donations will be collected by the public service committee and brought to The Chase Home. A date to help The Chase Home residents set up the garden will be set in May or June, as ongoing pandemic protocols allow.
Preferred Donations include:
- Gift cards to Home Depot;
- Gift cards to Wentworth Greenhouses in Rollinsford, NH;
- Garden tools;
- Pots for planting herbs;
- Gardening gloves (adult sizes);
- A wheelbarrow;
- Any kind of vegetable seeds;
- Blueberry and raspberry bushes; and
- Decorative garden items.
